Planning poker for Azure DevOps

Connect a PointHuddle room to Azure DevOps, import the work items for your next sprint, estimate them together, and write each accepted estimate back to the work item. It’s free, with no per-seat fees, and your team joins with a link and a name.

How it works

  1. Create a token. In Azure DevOps, open User settings → Personal access tokens and create a token with Work Items: Read & write. Read is enough if you only want to import.
  2. Connect the room. In PointHuddle, open Room settings → Azure DevOps, enter your organisation (https://dev.azure.com/your-org) and paste the token.
  3. Pick the project and team. With one project it is chosen for you. The team defaults to the project’s default team.
  4. Import work items from the team’s current iteration, or with a WIQL query. Each item shows its id, title, type, state and current points. Tick up to 100 and import. Each becomes a story like #123 Checkout page, linked to the work item.
  5. Estimate. Vote in private, reveal together, talk about the spread, accept.
  6. Estimates go back. When you accept a number card, PointHuddle writes it to the work item. The Azure DevOps section shows the last result, with Azure DevOps’ own message if it refused.

Which field is written

ProcessField
AgileStory Points (the default)
ScrumEffort
CMMISize

The host picks the field. Write-back is on by default and can be turned off. Only number cards are written; T-shirt sizes, ? and ☕ are not.
